Telehealth Therapy

At Garden City Center, we offer virtual sessions in addition to in-person ones. To help you better understand and prepare for online mental health therapy, we’ve put together the following resources.

How does teletherapy work?

Garden City Center uses a video conferencing platform. It provides reliable video and audio connections with a private link that is both confidential and HIPAA-compliant.

Are session lengths and charges the same?

Yes. You will be able to have your teletherapy session for the same in-person length and amount.

Does it matter where I live?

Yes. State licensing laws dictate geographic jurisdictions for teletherapy and in-person sessions. Ashley Bauman is licensed in the District of Columbia and is only able to offer teletherapy to clients residing in that state. Stacey Mayo is licensed in the District of Columbia, and in the states of Maryland and Virginia, and is only able to offer teletherapy to clients residing in those states.

Will it be a lot different than in person?

Yes and no. You and your therapist will be able to see and hear each other. There are limits to what a video screen will capture (both in size and seeing minute body language details). But we therapists are trained to tune in to even subtle movements and tones, so most of the interaction will feel similar to being in person.

What are the insurance reimbursements?

Most insurance companies will reimburse for telehealth services. The CPT code often ends with “-95” or “-GT”. We use the code “-95” and are able to modify that if there are any insurance issues when you apply for reimbursement.

Please check with your insurance company and your personal policy prior to your teletherapy session.
